Sujata Rout Karthikeyan, who led the Mission Shakti department under the BJD government, was accused by the BJP of influencing women self-help groups into supporting the BJD. During her stint in the department, she encouraged entrepreneurship among women, and credit linkage to SHGs rose from ₹500 crore to ₹15,000 crore in seven years.
